The Caste System

IThe Caste System is a system of Social Divisions that was used in Anient India and later in other parts of the world. Discrimination based on positition in the Caste Sysytem is illegal. The system is divided into four different jatis.

A "varna" is a individual division. The four varnas are The Brahmins, Kshatriyans, Vaishyas, and teh Shudras. The Brahmins group consists of riests, teachers, and preachers. The Kshatriyans contained kings, governors, warriors, and soldiers. The Vaishyas were the cattle herders, the agriculturists,  buisnessman, artisians, and merchants. The Shudras people were the labourers and the service providers.

A "varna" is a group in the Caste System, but a "jati" is a group inside of a varna. It is a subdivision. Jatis are much more specific than varnas. Varna is another word for caste. The Caste System became unfair to the people that were in the lower varnas.
